Sporting Equipment

On flights to/from North America, one piece of approved sports equipment (golf bag, skis, snowboard, surfboard) travels as part of your standard checked baggage allowance (free on Smart/Flex fares, or standard checked bag fee on Saver). If checked in addition to your allowance, a flat fee of $100 USD (€75) applies. For flights within Europe, sports equipment costs €40 online or €50 at the airport. Bicycles require phone reservation and a €50 fee. Maximum weight is 50 lbs (23 kg).

Musical Instruments

Small instruments (violins, flutes) under 21.5" x 15.5" x 9.5" (55 x 40 x 24 cm) and 22 lbs (10 kg) travel free as cabin carry-on. Medium instruments (guitars, cellos) up to 165 lbs (75 kg) require purchasing an extra passenger seat. Large instruments in the aircraft hold incur a €40 online / €50 airport handling fee on European routes (or count toward transatlantic checked allowances) and require a rigid, hard-shell case.

Valuable & Fragile Electronics

High-value cameras, laptops, and drones must travel in cabin baggage allocations. Loose lithium-ion batteries, spare power banks, and e-cigarettes are prohibited in checked luggage. Televisions and monitors traveling as checked cargo carry no airline transit liability and require a signed release form at check-in.

Carrier Liability & Seasonal Limits

Subject to international Montreal Convention limits (~$1,700 USD). Standard checked bags are capped at 62 linear inches and 70 lbs (32 kg); larger or heavier items must route through IAG Cargo. Regional routes operated by Emerald Airlines may restrict excess bags.
